Basement ceiling

I’m redoing the basement and half of the ceiling is drywall and the other half where the duck work and wires and other BS is I’m wanting to paint for the industrial look bc I don’t want to drywall and lose even more height(old house ) on that side of the basement my question is what color do I paint it white or black I’ve read that either has it’s pros and cons I’ve read that they paint the duct work as well help Please Debbie

You will not have the industrial look with wires and other BS around but if you plan on painting anyway paint it black.

That said you can finish the duct work and cover everything up and not lose much headroom space and have a nice clean finished look instead of having dust n everything else above habitable space.

We did raw steel tread plate for the ceiling of our basement hallway. Ceiling height was an issue for us so we used angle iron to mount it flush to the ductwork and only lost a few millimeters of ceiling height. They are large square tiles and you can slide them out to access the ducts. This ceiling ended up being my favorite feature in the basement!
