We have been here 5 years, and will be here at least another 2 years. We are military and have not decided if we are going to be renting this home so we can come back to it, or if we will sell. It’s a tough spot lol.

I wouldn't remodel a bathroom in a home I am vacating in two years. That's a completely different question that whether I would get rid of a useless tub in a home that I was planning to live in for the foreseeable future.

Whether you rent or sell in two years is irrelevant to me since I wouldn't renovate in a rental anyway because I would assume that it would have to be renovated and spruced up after the renters left - and I certainly wouldn't use the high end finishes I would if I were planning to live in it after the remodel.

In two years, you are unlikely to get any return on your investment nor would you be living in it long enough for you to really enjoy the benefits of the remodel. The new owner can make a decision as to whether they want to keep as it is or remodel. Unless the bathroom is a horror show, I would think many people would either prefer to have a price that doesn't reflect someone else's remodeling taste because they could either live with it (and save money) or redo to their needs and tastes because they didn't pay for YOUR remodel when they bought it.

Since it's not your permanent home, we voted not to remove tub. You've gone 5 years. 2 more for what doesn't sound like that big of an inconvenience or eyesore shouldn't be that bad.

When I remodeled the master bathroom, I got rid of the tub and had a beautiful not-overly-big shower built. In California, we are always (except this year!) short on water and never used the tub.
The family bathroom has a tub-shower combo but our girls didn’t go in for tub-soaking either, but it’s there in case a family with a small child ever moves in here.
