help with curtains and fireplace

I have brown couches and recently got this teal ottoman. I want it to be be too “busy” in this space. I was thinking of painting the fireplace and getting either ivory or gray curtains. Also maybe painting the windows and the trim? We could paint the walls? I don’t know what else to do with this room. Help!
