Benjamin Moore makes a great "Moroccan Red" It's not your typical cherry or lipstick red. Has some warmth to it.

I went for red ( benjamin moore caliente). Goes well with cottage style and my brown roof. It is quite forgiving of the natural orange tones in red brick. But you could go with a cooler red with your colors and add some black hardware/ mailbox. Agree with you to remove the storm door.

I love this blue. And black is very sharp as well.

And, when you remove the storm door, you could stencil your house number on your door. They look great - search on houzz for pictures - they're here - i just dont know how to post them.

I would try painting the storm door the same or a close color of the door. If you are planning on getting rid of it, what do you have to lose? Or get a full-view version.

I used Rustoleum on mind and it looked good. Just don't leave white frames if you can avoid it with a dark color. They come in handy and help protect the door from the weather, although they can trap heat, especially with a dark color and with a southern exposure--then crack it a little.

Too bad you don't have much casing. I would suggest somewhat lighter colors than say the deep cadet blue above so it doesn't blend in with the dark brick. I think various yellows, especially butter and those with a hint of orange, blues (cornflower to aqua to cadet blue and turquoise) and greens all look very nice. Red and orange reds are classic, but don't offer much contrast to the brick. Tans taupes and grays can work too and are a bit tamer.

The screen door needs to be replaced or just removed. I don't leave the door open much so I'm thinking I'll remove it.

Please consider the color of the roses in your color choice if you are keeping them. They are lovely and go nicely with the house. But I would not want to see any kind of red there. I think that a cobalt blue or the greens libradesigneye mnetioned would work nicely.

Or, you could stencil the number on your mailbox or on a piece of wood. If you like to hang wreaths up, they may block the house number if it is on your door.

I'd go with either black for a stately look or if you're more daring, I think a deep turquoise would be fun.

Get rid of the storm door for sure. Then go with a sage green or a dark aqua color. You might want to add an old fashioned screen door instead of the storm door then paint it the same color as the door.

Cynthia, you're lucky! I think your door could be painted for about $12 for a quart of paint. What about removing the storm door in favor of a screen door or nothing in front of the wood door?

One more thing - you should paint the shutters a color. Black will work (especially if you pick it up in others accents like urns and hardware). Anything but white. If you go with a light color for the door you could match it. It s a balancing act.

And power wash the porch and steps. When budget allows you might want to think about enhancing that gable to become an entire new front porch.

This red will work with red brick and pink flowers. It is pomegranite ( benjamin moore). I actually tried it on my door but it didnt work with my brown roof.

The porch railings make a strong statement relative to the size of the porch and a deeper color would recess the door giving the porch a little more depth. I see the door's hardware, house numbers, mailbox and planters in the metal color to compliment the porch light, the door in a cool blue or blue w slight grey undertone and shutters the same or a brighter and cooler tone of the roof . The cooler colors would contrast the brick and the colorful summer plants in front of your house. The great thing is it's only paint.......

Remove the shutters as they do nothing at all for your home. The shutters are the wrong size.

Paint your front door a high gloss black and, if you cannot replace the storm at this time, paint it high gloss black
