IKEA is only a bargain if you DIY and use all IKEA components. Start mucking about with that, or hiring labor, and your savings goes right out the window. Start counting the weeks to months of personal DIY labor, and bye bye savings. You can buy better quality assembled and not have to deal with that.

BTW, i contacted Reform a few weeks ago and was told they were coming to the Los Angeles area in June to scout out locations for a West Coast office, which they hope to open by the end of the year. Not in time for my project, alas...

My architect just told me about reform... they do have a Los Angles office now... will be checking them out soon, but thought I would check here to see if anyone has used them. Looks like they make their own boxes now too.

@purpleproject, sorry I just saw your question! We went with Semihandmade for two of our four bathroom vanities (one walnut, one mahogany) and are very happy with the result!

Mittens Cat - glad to hear you are happy with Semihandmade... did you do the godmorgen boxes? I'm thinking similar for our bathroom

Yep @hapahaole. Godmorgon for both. Amateur Tip: if possible, try to time it so you hit both the IKEA and Semihandmade sales. I think they both do it twice a year. I believe I bought in mid summer or so. I don't believe IKEA advertises their sales more than a few days in advance, though.

I would NEVER recommend using reform cabinets. I am a designer and ordered these for a client. After 17 weeks (the promised lead time was 14-16 weeks) we got the cabinets. Had the order come in accurate it wouldn't be a big deal that it was 1 week late. Unfortunately, they didn't come in even close to accurate and we have had to go back and forth multiple times to get the additional pieces that were either missing or incorrectly sized. It has now been 6 months since we placed the order and still don't have all of the missing or incorrect pieces. The customer service rep has told us multiple times that remaining pieces will be "completed next week" 3 times now and they have failed to meet the deadline twice. If they actually ship next week as told, we will have spent hours on phone calls and waited over 6 months to get the kitchen to be delivered accurately and completely.

Liz Ourston - are you using the reform boxes and door fronts? So have you not been able to install the kitchen or counters because of the delays? Did the boxes come in the wrong sizes? Do you think the problem is with the person in the storefront ordering the wrong sizes or the company just built and/or sent the wrong size? So sorry you've had such a bad experience. Are you happy with the quality?

Curious if you all use IKEA for the counters or go custom? Also, does anyone know if the double vanities only come in one size? I’m looking for an extra long one (96”).

I used reform for kitchen and bath remodel pre pandemic and they were fantastic to work with.

Hi - I went with the basis and linoleum in the kitchen and oak veneer in the bathroom.

HI - It likely would be more accurate to look at thier website - they have sample configurations for kitchens of various sizes and share pricing estimates for various door styles

Iv’ve also used Reform for a kitchen and was very happy with both the product and customer support. Sounds like Liz’s experience may have been an early pandemic abberation. We went with the Fold product.

@shaare We are considering Reform Basis Linoleum cabinets. How hae yours held up? Would appreciate any feedback.

They've held up really well and I've been extremely happy with them. I have the mushroom color which is light and nothing seems to stain them. The one vulnerable area is the exposed edge which can get nicked. I have had a couple small nicks over the years. No one would notice but I know its tthere because I did iit. Will try to upload a photo of this tomorrow for you.

I just added a few pictures. Looks worse in pictures and these are close up. It's not very noticeable and someone would really have to be looking for it to notice especially with cabinet door closed. I have 2 small divots to the edge area after several years. Still this is the one thing to be aware as the linoleum is a soft material. I would say I am pretty rough on stuff in general and also dinged the quartz edge to the counter with a pot.

Wow, thank you so much for the photos! It is very helpful to have a real life example of the cabinets. I think no matter what type of cabinets are used, there will always be some wear and tear. We are going with the Vapour lineoleum, similar to Mushroom. We thought about the black granite counter, but are now leaning towards light oak.

I'm sure you'll love them. I would definitely buy them again and agree that everything will get some wear. Just wanted to show you the worst of what can happen which really isn't very bad. The black quartz looks really nice but is a pain to keep clean. Good luck with yours!!!
