What is in front of your washer and dryer? If a wall, like mine is, my husband put a board up with hooks on it to hang the clothes on. It is about 6 feet from the floor. I fold clothes on the top of my dryer...

If you are allowed, I would paint it a bright fun color that makes you happy. Then add a small rug to stand on.

Some kind of hanging ladder or board on the door like erinsean suggested is a good idea.

Maybe a shelf above the dryer so that after you use the dryer top to fold, you can put the clothing on to keep the folding area clear until done.

Does the door with the blinds lead to the garage?

My favorite place to fold is on the bed, plenty of rooms to make tidy stacks of clean laundry.

So, this is a small space between the home and the garage, and there is room for only the two machines, and even one of those blocks the outside door? Well, sounds like a violation to me, but I'd need a better picture.

Can you screw holes in the wall or ceiling? Perhaps you could hang an overhead rack on a pulley like in old English homes?

Do you use this space to get to the garage on a regular basis (like, even weekly to take out the trash)?

A fold down valet rod would be a good place to hang a dryerload of shirts.

First of all, see if you can get that dryer closer to the wall. Google "flat dryer vent" and you'll get an idea of what you can use to minimize space lost.

Since the door is right there, I assume that this is some kind of mud room? In which case maybe you can paint...If it's a part of the kitchen, then it will need to stay that way.

If you want, you can even get removable decals for the washer and dryer...

Your shelves can be organized with cute baskets in whatever color you like...

Labels will stick to these...I've done it and it works...Or you can tie cute kraft paper tags to the handles...

Just because it's a small space, doesn't mean that it can't make you smile :)
