I googled it and one bit of info said it could be either a trailer or standard. I think that is wrong because first of all,,,,,it is a semi miniature. So it can't be a standard.

Anyway, I do see new little "sucker leafs" starting to come out on the trunk. If it were mine, since you don't want a palm tree (lol), I would look up all the gwf posts you can on training trailers. LOTS of information here. There is no one easy answer.

Let us now what method you use and how it works for you. But before you do much of any method,,,,put down some backup leaves just in case "bad happens"!!! Good luck! Rosie

Elsa! I looked at your pix again. Now I know what I would do if it were mine,,,,,,,,,,, I would 1) Cut the trunk off at the soil level, leave it potted but empty as much soil as you can out of the pot. Put fresh soil in and set the pot to the side.

2) Take all of the leaves off the stem except for the top two rows, give those leaves a fresh cut and plant them. (NOT in the pot) Use a different one.

3) About an inch from the bottom row of leaves you left on, cut the top of the plant off and restart it in a small pot or kcup.

4) Now take the leftover piece of stem that has nothing on it, gently scrape the trunk on one side to expose the fresh layer and plant it LAYING ON ITS SIDE in the original pot next to the old stem.

So here is my logic. First you have started a bunch of leaves of a variety that a lot of people may trade for. In the original pot you have the old roots and plant stem cut off at soil level that will throw up suckers for you. Also the other piece of trunk you planted on its side in the same pot will root and sucker for you! Really it will !!!!!! Lastly,,,,,you are restarting the crown which should do nicely for you! Blossoms are amazing - but it doesn't fit the trailer type very well - and doesn't grow as a rosette... something in-between I would plant it deeper - the bare stems are not it - and enjoy it in all its quirkiness.

If I bury deeper , I need a deeper pot rather a pan pot. Maybe I can put a thick layer of perlite at the bottom, am I right?
