Of the two, I like the second one. I don’t like medallion rugs when you have to cover the medallion with a table.

I really like the first one. While I get what Oaktonmom is saying about the medallion under the table, it's the non-medallion rest of the rug that I think looks so stunning with the rest of your furnishings. I think the triangles on the second one take away from the artwork.

I definitely like number one, the pattern. It is so much more calming and restful and to me brings out your artwork rather than competing with it. Of course computers make it hard to see colors adequately but number one seems to blend more with your colors.

I like both of them too. I'm really drawn to the second one but if you choose it you may need to add a little softness or curves somewhere in your room. The rug adds a lot of sharp angles which are cool, but might need to be tempered just a little.

First one! More subtle and versatile than the second, imo. Both choices look good in your space but the first looks a bit better for the reasons nursetammi outlined.

I REALLY like the first rug! It has just enough of a traditional look to foil the geometric look and angles of the artwork, the lamp base, etc. It does what a rug should do - anchor the room without screaming for attention.

At first look, my impression was that the first one obviously goes, but is too dull and I think the second one is better. Then I read the comments, and while most preferred the second one, I could see that the first one has its merits-but I still prefer the second one and find the first one fine but boring.

1st one, it's a little softer. 2nd one hurts my eyes.

Update:

I have decided to return the geometric rug and repurpose the patterned rug in a different room. Currently in the hunt for a more neutral rug that will help the space blend better with the fireplace in the other side of the room. Will keep you posted on the new rug once I find it.

Small update:

I think I have found the rug. Going to pick it up tomorrow. But here you have a sneak peak, it looks a bit different in person. Expect a progress pic of the new rig on my space tomorrow.

I like the first one better with your wall art. I am not one to mix a lot of patterns together in one space.
