I'd think you could get a curtain rod long enough to fit just up to the area where the arch starts to meet the sides of the window molding. I think it would be a shame to cover the arched window top, it's such a nice feature. I can't tell how tall it is, but if the curtain rod starts at that point, you might have a few inches of the arched top showing, and hopefully that small amount of sun won't bother you.

I like the ideas posted above. If you really want the arch window covered, I can make a custom shade for you that will be operable.

Thanks for the suggestions! motownmom and anne dee, I was origianlly thinking something similar, but I don't think it will work with the arch in the drywall I would need to hang the straight rod in front of it and it would hide the whole wall...
