We are renovating our house from afar, having only been inside it a few times. We had a painter paint the interior and I just found out that included the shower walls in the hall bathroom and the master walk in shower. The original walls weren’t tiled, but I guess plaster a with some of sealant over it.

I’ve never heard of shower walls being painted. Is this something that we need to fix right away or can it last a few years with the semi gloss paint on it? We plan to rent out the house for three years and have already spent quite a bit of money on updating other areas of the house. Below are pictures of the original walls before they were painted.
