What is the under the deck foundation material if any?

    The deck is conventionally framed using treated pine. There is also a limestone retaining wall underneath that is not visible. This deck actually sits on a significant slope. The near part of the deck is at ground level and the far is about 9 feet above the ground. So much goes into what you never see! Thanks for the question!
