The same hardwood in the whole space . A powder room can easily handle wood floor and wood works very well in kitchens a nice entry rug large enough to cover the wood , it will look much better IMO than new tile.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, my contractor tells me that it will not be possible to match the existing hardwood. The existing hardwood flooring was done some years ago..

Look for new tile at your local tile shop. Pick up some samples to bring home. Take a kitchen drawer or door with you to save time on colors. Photos of the hardwood flooring that include a piece of white paper for color balance will save time, too.

Have an on-site consult with a wood flooring Pro (not a big box store). While the exact "style" of you current hardwood may not be available, the Pro will give you a much better idea of what might be possible. Always seek Pro advice...don't just rely on "the contractor".
