HELP WITH LIVING ROOM DESIGN PLEASE

I NEED HELP DESIGNING!!!

The second picture is how my living currently looks - the edited picture is what I came up with while playing around. I currently have a small tv stand (not pictured in the photo) and am thinking of adding this white tv stand instead! No it will not be positioned where I have put it for now, it'll be directly from the sofa. Your thoughts? I really wanting to stay away from DARK colors -- I considered an espresso colored tv stand but didn't want to make the room look too traditional. The legs of my sofa and loveseat are dark brown and this tv stand also has dark legs so I thought it would look nice. I do not like too bright or too dark of colors so I am thinking of getting a light abstract painting with few colors and perhaps adding gold touches even though some of the decorative accents are silver...

How does this all look? Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated.

Bringing the color you did into your picture was much needed. I would continue on that bent. Right now you live in a grayed out space with no life.

You need color! Look at all the photos above; there is some bold color or beautiful wood or a great painting and in all photos there are multiple sources of light. Do not be afraid of making a statement....

I used to have a blue carpet and a dark wood coffee table with these couches but I did not like it. I actually like the rug I have now and the coffee table is okay. I would like to bring turquoise as my pop of color. Is that okay? I didn't think the edited picture was still so bland.

Nobody suggested you had to have a dark anything. Your rug, the walls, and THE SOFAS......are all one note/one tone. That's the problem. If you love the picture, change the rug. It is still bland, because the pastel picture is too weak for the sofa and rug and walls. So too, are the pale gold and silver pillows. If the sofas were white linen? Different story, and a better relationship to those soft tones.

Definitely add some contrasting color in wall decor, pillows, rug. The room also needs some organic texture--wood, plants, etc.

Turquoise is a great idea. Your room is lovely and will be perfect with a few pillows and especially, art. And the tv stand is perfect.

Where there is little color and contrast.........texture is the necessary ingredient. Smooth, rough, shiny, dull, crunchy, woven, satiny etc. The things you can "feel" with your EYES. Preferably with a variance in TONE.

Both of the photos just above, have that, to SOME degree. It is one of the MIA ingredients in the OP'S dilemma as well, and all rooms benefit from it no matter their colors.

This is how my living room looks from one view.... would like to make a few things clear -- my sofa is not grey. it is called 'stone' it's not white, beige, tan, or off white. it's a unique color. same with the rug. if you see these two in person they match either very well. not sure if that's a good or bad thing - like mentioned above, i used to have a blue and white patterned rug and dark coffee table with sofa and loveseat (i hated it and so did my partner) so unless you guys can link a really nice rug in the comments for me to purchase i have looked high and low for a better rug and couldn't find anything so i chose this. tv stand you see is in a weird position at the moment - but like mentioned above i'm getting a white modern tv stand similar to the one posted above. I have all this extra space to the left but I'm not sure how to utilize it -- one thing i'd like to say is that i am living in a rented apartment with my partner. please note that i do not wish to go all out and buy things just for this apartment. we'll probably move to a bigger/smaller place, lighter/darker space, and may not have stuff for extra stuff later on. i do not want to make my space look a particular way either (too glam/girly/too much pattern/texture/color) as i've been getting older i appreciate simplicity. my current situation may be too simple thoug and i agree...that's why i'm on here to get suggestions from you guys- we have decided that'll i'll hang an art piece most likely abstract art right above the loveseat. i'll get the white tv stand. i'll add either an end table with a lamp or a standing lamp but one that is more stylish. on my coffee table i'll put a round tray with some a candle/small plant/coasters. i'll add pillows of different sizes on the couches.

any other adive - please kindly let me know. thanks. also, if you think i should rearrange my living room please drop ideas! thank you so much. sorry this was sooo long.
