In theory it will work. My personal experience with Command products is changing, they used to be fantastic but now I’m getting fails and the quality is going down for the price. My favorite source for out of the ordinary household gadgets/aids is HomeGoods. I see sponge holders of various types all the time. Their prices make the risk worthwhile.

Good idea - that is one of my favorite destinations. I just don't want my sponge on my countertop.
