Wow, you've been dealing with so many severe challenges -- no wonder you haven't had a lot of time for roses! But sometimes I think when we don't have time for roses, that's when we need them most.

I'm so glad you are back to posting, GA gal, and have your roses to comfort you during this time of trouble. It sounds like your family has nowhere to go but up from this point. I am so sorry you all have to experience this series of tragedies. I hope MD Anderson can do something. They do wonderful work.

That is so much to go through! Hugs to you! How are your twins? I'm sorry for your other family health issues and problems as well. Time for some you time!

How I wish I had a magic wand to wave and make all your troubles go away, gagal. Everything I could say seems like a platitude in the face of so much pain. I hope there are loving and compassionate people around you to support you. Best wishes and I'm glad you've found your way back here.

My word GaGal, your post describes tragedies and ongoing challenges on so many levels. Our hearts go out to you and your family in facing all of this. Do take some time for yourself as you're caring for the others in your life, and don't feel like you have to do everything yourself. Ask for help when possible and don't expect to have answers or responses for everything that comes up. Sometimes just being there is a much-needed support for family that is hurting. Know that we're still being here for you as well, even if we don't have much other tangible help to offer, and feel free to vent or share whatever you need with your online family here.

Well, just got a call from our local sheriffs office,..my FIL was in a nothe town trying to pawn an old gun. Fortunately, the pawnshop owner didn’t feel right about it and called the local PD. I could just scream! Here we go again! It’s a nightmare! But...on a better note, my sister is doing great. Works every day and feels good. There is no cure and they can’t reverse it, but they have been able to hold it at bay. It is a tissue cancer and the one she has is not treated with chemo or radiation. She gets a shot every three months and just rolls on. You would never know she had cancer if you met her. She did do some hormonal therapy, but is now on this. There are experimental things they can do later but right now she is maintaining. I am glad for the spring weather. It seems that I stay in a state of dread...always waiting for the other shoe to drop...now I can get out and piddle (y’all know I love to do that ) and play with my Plants. My potted roses are blooming and I could look at them all day.. I appreciate everyones thoughts and well wishes. I know everyone goes thru trying times and it’s just my turn. i think of what my sister said...she told me that people always say, I don’t know how you do it or how do you keep going? Her response is, what else would I do? Lay in bed and cry or try new restaurants, vacation spots, and redo your house...what would you choose?

Gagal, I totally miss you. I know about a lot since you email me but I am glad you hold everything together . You have a huge, huge, HUGE heart. Very giving.

Oh, I forgot to add, my hubby has a son that we didn’t know about! It was years before we met. He is wonderful with a gorgeous wife and two kids. he is career air force and was overseas when we found out. Lots of FaceTime and texting. What a blessing that has been.

I am late at reading this thread. So sorry for what you have been going through, but I am happy to read that your sister is doing better. Hoping that loads of joy is just around the corner!!

Gagalzone, you have been going through so much! So glad your sister is doing good. How wonderful that your husband’s son and family are bringing some much needed joy, that is so precious. I think you have a great attitude and hopefully that will help you get through everything better. I do hope things begin to improve, and soon. I know we all go through trying times, but you’ve had way more than your share! I’m glad that at least your roses can be a diversion at times.

I can't even comment. It all sounds so hard, but then you're holding up. I wish you continued strength, and some time with your roses. Gardening is such a comfort. Good luck!

Thanks so much everyone! Gosh you all have lightened the load! I can’t believe I had exiled myself. I have just been in a funk and everything has been such an effort! Lilyfinch I thought of you when I was hauling my roses..it was a sight! I actually stuck some of the offer ones in the ground so they would not dry out as fast. Just a temporary spot until my yard is fixed.

My sympathy to you. i always think of my departed loved ones when I am in my garden. It is not their death that I remember but that their souls once grace this beautiful earth. I remember how they touched my life. Like a rose, life is short but forever beautiful.

your first picture by the trees there is a structure looks like patio. You can grow beautiful rose climbing up.
All your cuttings been very successful. I think this project will keep you busy for a while. How are your roses in front of the house ? Any pics ?

Wow what a gorgeous blank slate !!! I love the pool area . What a dream to garden around . And to dip in after a long day in the garden !! How wonderful!!! So what is the gully ? Is that like a sink hole ? Forgive me for not knowing .

You can plant a million roses back there!

We have a creek that runs down the side of the property. It becomes a raging river with hard rain. The dirt spot is where yard drainage has eroded the yard . It’s a mess. Lake Blackshear is located outside town, so the sea wall guy, (hubby’s friend and the best in the business) has been tied up out there. They lower the water at the lake before Christmas, so people can work on their docks and sea walls. this creek fills completely to the top. They are going to reroute it more into the pasture. It empties into our pond.

I have had fun painting my 15 year old anirondack chairs. T hated the stripe on the bench it’s solid color now.

I got that cool metal headboard for vines!

Plumeria, I have not done a thing in the front. It is a hodgepodge of multi colored crepe Myrtle’s just stuck everywhere. Awful. I am gonna wait until they bloom, then get rid of most of them. It’s like a crepe Myrtle orchard. Also, the side where the driveway is, needs shade. It is a blinding white hot area. All that light concrete is an oven. That is also on the south side, so you can imagine how hot Soth Ga gets! It’s gonna be 80 today.

I actually like the striped bench. It makes it look unique :) The chairs could be striped vertically/on the backs to match.

Sultry, I was just playing, but my 23 yr old daughter said no way! I have to add, that was when I started painting...I did paint the backs and legs. I felt so brave. I am a neutral girl at heart.

Gagalzone, I just read your post. My heart goes out to you! I remember you going through some of this last year when we traded plants. So glad for you that you’re able to get out and back in your roses. Your new house looks beautiful! Enjoy planting!
