Suncoastflowers, I won't able to answer your first question but your second question, I can. Yes, they can be in sun.
Mine is in direct sun from sunrise to sunset. . Yeah, I have Molineux too.
I hate Thrips which I can never see. They are too small to identify esp we have so many tiny flying insects.

Thank you, Jin! That's very helpful! It's in a pot for now and I am going to try to move it into more sun today.

If you can post another picture when the flowers are fully open that might help in identification. It's always a challenge to identify a rose at the best of times since so many have different color variations.

This is the flush it sent up a few days after I potted it up. I an sure the blooms will improve with some settling in and more sun.

It does kinda look more like Molineux today! Mine looks just like that sometimes. I just got mine last year bare root. It is around 3 ft, I think.

So gorgeous, and it certainly looks like an Austin. I imagine it could easily be Monineux, from what I've seen of all the photos of that rose. A total win, at any rate. It is stunning.
