My suggestion is a waterproof floating SPC plank or SPC tile flooring. A ceramic or porcelain tile floor will be durable, but I’ve never liked the grout upkeep, and it will be more expensive to install than a click together floor, If you will post pictures of your space, it will be easier for the designers and others to help with your choices. Also, do you have any moisture issues in your basement? How is the lighting down there?

No moisture, lighting is good. It's approx 2800 sq ft. We have 2 large rooms separated with 2 8' openings. Also, a large open area that goes from garage to a stairway to our living area. Also, a full bath and a room with a sink.

The SPC (stone polymer core) flooring could also be used in the bathroom and in the room with the sink. It is more dimensionally stable than the WPC (wood polymer core) flooring so it will expand and contract very little. It can also support heavier furniture than the WPC so a pool table would not be a problem.

We just ordered and will have delivered on Tuesday, 1500 sq ft of SuperCORE SPC wood look plank flooring. We ordered it from WeShipFloors.com and are excited to get it installed. There are several companies that carry the SPC flooring if that interest you,. Some of them are Republic, Provenza, SuperCORE, Adura Rigid, Flooret Modin and a number of others. If you Google—-SPC versus WPC —-, you can read about the differences in the two and why SPC may be a good choice for you. Ceramic and porcelain tile are durable, but too cold and hard for me.

There are also some glue down vinyl products that might work well for you, but I have no experience with those.

We used a LVP for our new build (BC/Canada) used a glue LVP down for the mudroom, laundry & loft office areas, for the guest rooms we used a LVP click type, so far easy to clean, as we have dogs, it took a bit for one of them to get used to it & does slip or slide occasinally on it still.

Since our basement floor was not level enough for "click" options, we used industrial carpet squares. Have extras in case of damage or stains -individaul squares can be replaced.
