Seville Orange grew from a seed has buds!

I'm doing the Happy Dance because a Seville Orange seed I planted in 2011 finally has white buds! Seville oranges in our area are difficult to find except in ethic markets and are quite expensive. For a marmalade obsessed person, I'm thrilled! Now I have my own Seville oranges to make the traditional English marmalade! With the So. California drought, gophers, heavy wind where I live and my periods of neglect when I travel, the fact this tree has made it is a minor miracle!

That's a beautiful tree you have! Actually today, I planted outside some Seville seedlings I grew during the winter. Citrus flowers are always exciting, especially when they're your tree's first!

Your tree looks very nice. The Seville grows very well from seed. I have a Seville seedling that I grafted with a New Zealand lemonade..

The Seville seedling roots are 15 months old and the scion is 9 months old.

Laura - it would have probably bloomed a lot faster had I not had it in a pot the first two years! I also had a lemon seed that I planted but that took 10 years to bloom and so far produced only 1 lemon! You never know. Fortunately in Southern Calif where I live, we have the the conducive conditions for citrus growing.

Congrats! I love to hear about seed grown citrus trees blooming - gives me hope waiting for mine to bloom. Yours bloomed on the quick side I think. The tree looks great.
