Nikki's Makeover

I finally have a hooped Hoya! Found this huge wicker planter at a little boutique/antique shop today. It was around $20 originally, but the lady had it sitting around the shop for a while, so she knocked the price down to $12 (score!). I took Nikki out of her macrame hanger (not an easy task-had to finally cut the poor thing). I think she looks better. Oh, and did I mention it's silver? :) It's not the sturdiest thing, so I found an old brick to put in the bottom (should have used a cache pot to catch water in it instead).

Beautiful brad! You is a great job and the planter is fantastic! How long did that take you to do?

It would have took longer if I didn't cut away the hanger. Not sure of the duration of time it took me to do it. But it wasn't too long.

She's looking a little rough and dehydrated, so I've been misting her and gave her a good soak not too long ago. Don't know why she's pouting for me, but she'll be better once I put her outside for the summer. I hope I didn't lose the peduncles. I lost one vine with one.

Fingers crossed she bounces back fast, keep us posted! I feel like a bad Hoya mamma cause I keep mine indoors all year, I bet Nikki will love the fresh air

I'm emotionally invested in Nikki, :D I await her flowers more than people await updates on Royal sprogs... sorry, kids.

Mine long for outdoors. I hope Nikki bounces back, too. Triffidmoss, it's nice to know someone else out there is emotionally invested in her. I hate to think that I'd have to start over with her, but if it comes to that, I'll have to do it. She's had daughters (cuttings I've given away) that have bloomed, including a plant I gave to the real Nikki's mother. I'm just waiting on Hoyas to bloom, period. Really, any of my house plants lol.

Any updates on Nikki? Hope she is holding strong

She still looks kinda wilted. I hope she's in not too much of a shock. I didn't transplant or repot her, which is strange. Maybe she needs it. I watered her again the other day to see if she would perk up. Keeping a close eye on her lately.

    Hopefully she perks up soon!

Watered her again this morning. Used my thumbnail to scrape a vine. There's still green underneath, thank the gods. I misted her, too. I think she's pouting and needs back outside. None of my other plants look like this.

Brad how is Nikki? Is she outside yet?

She's doing good. I see her recovering slowly. Some of the base leaves have really plumped back up. She's outside, with the rest of the Hoyas. It's been rainy and humid lately, and some sun, so hopefully she'll start bouncing back in no time.

I am happy to report that I see new growth sprouting from the vines (mostly leaves). So, she'll bounce back to her old self in no time :).
