Your room is gorgeous. I do love the rug, but agree that jute would be easier to keep up with. I would consider a large jute rug (bigger than what you have now), topped with a smaller area rug just in the sofa/coffee table area.

Thank you! I agree with you on size - this is a 9x12. Whatever I get will be a 10x14. Again, jute seems like the most low maintenance option even if I only get a couple years out of one with the fibers coming up.

We’ve tried paw cleaning systems to no avail. For one, I like to keep the door to my screened porch open when the weather’s nice so that my dog can wander in and out; he loves to lie on the porch and still be a part of the action when we’re in the living room.

Also - I have a large extended family with lots of dogs. There are sometimes as many as 6-7 here when I host get togethers and cleaning paws is a Sisyphean task. I own a steam cleaner that I’ll bust out once or twice a month in addition to regular vacuuming, but the dirty paws have taken their toll on the rug.

Your room is just lovely. Sure this rug will be harder to keep clean. However, it suits the room perfectly. Just have it cleaned as needed.

I've had two Jute rugs, never again! Too dusty. You don't see it till you lift the carpet but it's there under your feet! The rug you have now is gorgeous.

Jute in no way works in that pretty space I happen to love the whole thing just the way it is and it is truly not my style but a nice feeeling space.I love dogs and have dogs but I truly think they belong at home when I visit other people even if they have dogs.There is nothing in that space that really works with that many dogs gbuild a big dog space and let them all play there and arrange a space for them to come in another door.

Pretty room, and the rug looks perfect in there. I think jute would look just okay. Since that room seems to be where you hang out and watch TV, in my experience, I'd consider the comfort factor of it. Maybe you always have on shoes or solid sole slippers, but if you're only in socks walking on the jute, ouch! My dog avoided walking on a natural fiber rug we once had in the kitchen because of the discomfort, so maybe that's the upside of it.

rugsusa.com has some. I think as pretty as your rug is, jute can be just as nice and go with your style!
