Is beadboard in a powder room hard to keep clean?

I'm about to redo my downstairs powder room. It's right off the kitchen as well as a door to the backyard. It's definitely a high traffic bathroom. I'm working with a designer and she advised against installing beadboard on the wall and behind the toilet. She says that beadboard is hard to keep clean and gets "sprayed" from boys. She recommends that I tile halfway up the bathroom wall. I'm just nervous that it's going to be very expensive to tile the walls. I'm not sure it's such a necessity since it's just a half bath. What are your thoughts?
