Your garden is really coming along, so glad to see that! I know mine will be doing something soon. I expect to see scapes any day on Dumortieri, Fernstone is usually a couple of weeks behind. I like Fernstone, it has a lot of blooms, but it seems like they all try to bloom at the same time so does not last long. On the plus side it seems to always rebloom well. Love the azalea and snowball bush. I have lots of daffodil in bloom, and can't think of the real name of the shrub/small tree right now, just tulip tree comes to mind.

My Japanese magnolia was in full bloom when the back to back hard freezes hit...the daylilies were acting silly and all up and looking really good and it hit them harder than I have ever seen them hit. Debra, it may start early, but it is too soon to know these spikes are just in the tight closed bud stage....I didn't expect to see them though. We will see how they do s it goes along.

Wow Kay, your garden is bursting with color from your snowball and azalea bushes. Your daylilies look very good. All that mulching sure has helped to keep those pesky weeds down.

Thanks, Julia. I had hyacinths and daffs in February...in fact, I had one azalea blooming then. Nowit is clemais, azaleas, and the snowballs. The mulch is really necessary here because so many weeds don't die in winter. It doesn't stay cold enough long enough. Yo have to love spring.

Your garden looks great! Love the snowball bush. No scapes here yet but will probably begin soon. Currently monitoring my iris and peony buds. We had snow Tuesday morning, then back in the 70s on Thursday.

Oh wow, Lori! We had no snow this year at all. Mantis was amused by my snow pictures last year, but here, snow is so very rare it is nice to see. I too am waiting for the few peonies I have and we will see if there are any iris blooms. Maybe not this year.I have cut the number of iris tremendously because I can't manage all that I had, and i find daylilies easier since they can be mulched.

Just found my first scapes on Dumortieri, still down in the plant, and you can see wild violets are doing exceptionally well, grrr.

A couple of sdb iris are blooming today. The last 2 years we have had hard freezes in April just as they are blooming and knocked them out. This year it is looking like a good year, buds are showing up on several of them, and even a couple of tall beardeds. Seems really early for those, but we have been having some really warm weather the last week, and supposed to get close to 80 this week. With rain of course.
