This little weed has reddish leaves that grow close to the ground like a ground cover. Early in the spring, small, whitish tufts on single stalks pop up from the center-they kind of resemble a Q-tip. After a week or so, the flower blooms out into a small tuft-kind of resembling a button flower. They are growing on a hillside in the woods of East Tennessee. They stay in a general area and have spread across the hillside over the years.
