So do you recommend just digging up all of the larger patches? They seem to grow much faster than the rest of the grass.

I used to have someone do my landscaping, but this year I figured I would do it myself to save money.

I put down lime about 2-3 weeks ago along with moss control. I'm waiting for the grass to dry up before I rake.

Just dig them out and throw some Sod in there or seed it which ever you like, but get on it now as I did mine yesterday

That's Poa Triv and Poa annua, just look it up under google you will see what poa looks like

I would dig or pull them up now. Replant with grass you get when you trim the edges of your lawn. this time of year it's no problem. Water in if it's a dry day.
