Which 36" gas range to choose?

We are so confused. There are so many conflicting reviews and information out there! What do you have and do you love it?

I have both gas and induction and I love induction best. You will get a lot of people here telling you to consider induction- it is powerful, responsive, does not heat your kitchen or allow any spills to bake onto the cooktop- you clean with a spritz of whatever cleaner you use and its pristine. No need for a double boiler for anything delicate, and plenty of power to grill steak beautifully.

If I were looking for a 36" gas range, I would start with Bosch. That is my favorite price to value brand. If my budget were bigger, I would go with a Blue Star.

Any 30" induction one. Or a 36" induction cooktop plus wall ovens.

I don’t think Bosch makes a 36” gas range.

Induction is something to consider but it isn’t for everybody. There are many threads on this site that talk about different aspects of it.

Gas ranges can have very different features that can appeal to cooks for different reasons.

Do you have a budget? What type of cooking do you do? Is high heat or low heat more important. What type/size of cookware do you use?

Hi Jen, I have been asking the same question for months now and I still do not have any firm answers. There are problems with every range I've looked at. Either the btu's do not go low enough for simmering or the oven is too wide to fit in my doorway or, my latest discovery, all new ranges, even all-gas ranges have cooling fans that are noisy! Every manufacturer uses them now and they cool the electronics in the oven. But why do gas ovens have electronics in them anyway? Take a look at the threads I've started. You'll get more frustrated then ever but you might get some answers too.

I run a catering biz from my home. I ahve a 36” all gas Bertazzoni with the wok burner and a simmer burner. The oven is convection I have had mine for 12 yrs and still love it I also have KA double all electric convection wall ovens . You need to think of how you cook and then go shopping for the appliances that meet your needs.I have never had an issue with the coolong fan and unless you want a stove with the old gas pilot lights you will need electronics. Mine has no clock or timer but my ovens do so don’t need those. I also have a single induction burner that I use for very delicate sauces

A 12 year old Bertazzoni might be a qualitatively better range than what you can buy today. The last outgoing model was not recommended by Consumer Reports but it has been newly redesigned. So has the Fisher Paykels. I still can’t find any unbiased reviews by owners of either range. Appliance dealers just want to sell you something and so they won’t talk about potential problems like noisy cooling fans.
