Sounds like a renovation is in order. Do you have materials in mind already or are you just in the beginning stages?

What is the size of your space? That will determine your selection of tile etc etc. we are in the process of redoing both the master and a second bath. Both fairly small by todays standard. I chose a beige porcelain tile that looks like travertine for the floor. A mid range stain for the knotty alder vanity. A stone vessel sink and only one because the space is small. A large mirror above the vanity with a glass tile backsplace and a lovely granite called collisium. A small chandelier by golden lighting in Venetian bronze. I like the earth colors. The second bath is even smaller so I went with chrome, and white sink and shower. I will try to post some pics when we get further along. We got a narrow vanity nineteen inches rather than twenty one or two. It makes the room feel larger. We put radiant heat in the floor and added a glass block window, not sure I would do that again as it was fairly expensive. We did a glass block accent wall, not sure I would do that again as well. It is a distraction instead of wow. It all depends on the layout of the room.

Are you a member at Costco? Right now where I live they have a huge glass shower enclosure with expensive glass doors and black tile that's completely modern for only $559! I am so tempted to buy it just because it's such a deal. Also, check out Kijiji or Craigslist for used pedestal sinks, cabinets, sinks, etc. You would be surprised how many people get rid of builder grade stuff just because they wish to customize the space. Another popular item is to buy an old dresser, paint/stain it, cut a hole in back and top for the sink and plumbing, and tada! You have a beautiful vanity. Again, cheap flooring you can find at Costco, or wait for blow out sales at the big stores, or ask a flooring store if they have any clearance items or any product that it discontinued so you can bargain for a better price.
