I noticed my potted rose on the patio had a cluster of aphids. I sat down and was looking at it pondering if the sweet alyssum sprouts around it would flower soon enough to attract some beneficial insects to deal with it, when I saw a hoverfly zooming all around it. It looked like it did lay eggs near the aphids. So in a few days they should hatch and the larva will eat up the aphids hopefully. I'm so pleased and I hope this hoverfly comes back and makes a habit of this.
