Please take a photo an upload it in the comments. Give the photo time to progress from the initial grayed out appearance to full color before hitting submit. In my garden tomatoes grow up, though some sprawl more, so I am not clear as to what you mean by normal.

Looks fine to me. Those are the leaf stems rather than the plant stems. Like any other plants, individual cultivars of tomatoes may have particular leaf shapes or growth patterns. Early Girl is indeterminate, one of the types of plants that grows tall, in my garden reaching something like 6’ over the course of the growing season.

Agree, just the habit of the variety.
