Odd shaped foyer and halls

I have an odd shaped foyer, hardwoods and dogs so we have to keep rugs on the floors as protection. when you enter there is small entry are which branches off into dining room and short (10 feet) hall into living room. i'm thinking of using carpet tiles so i can customize. any other ideas?
