Flooring Design Dilemma Basements

Flooring Ideas for Pine Wainscot

My husband and I really like our wainscot. It's a little 'faded' looking, but it doesn't overtake the entire basement, its not shiny and with a little matte poly it comes back to life. That being said, our next project is to re-due the flooring.. which is hideous. Why anyone would think these matched is beyond me. What do we do though?? I prefer no carpet because its a basement with a walk out + my office + utility room + laundry room- so half would have to be in vinyl anyway.. What do we go with? Dark? Light? Do we white stain our wainscot? HELP

I would keep the flooring and remove the wainscoting, or paint it white along with the green walls.

The flooring actually needs to get redone! I should have posted a photo. The boards have shrunk and moved (in my office area). I have to kick them daily so they stay in place. They just look nice because I just mopped LOL.

Hmm. Normally I'd say to paint the wainscot and posts, but painting out those knots is going to be a bear. If you're up to the task, I'd go with a darker tone (like, 3 shades darker) of the same green you have on the walls in a semi-gloss. Then replace the floor with a dark brown hardwood.
