SPRING in Michigan

Hello all,

Hailing from Michigan now. :) Just moved here from Virginia four months ago, and my violets are loving this window they are in. Some of these are two years old and have never bloomed - so obviously they are liking this window. :)

Good old faithful Rob's Chilly Willy. This plant is about three years old by now. :) Maybe older.

Robs Lil Sweetheart - blooming strong. This one blooms very rarely! I am LOVING these big puffy blooms.

An all time favorite - Jolly Orchid.

This one I am SUPER excited about! This is Gleeful Elf - I've been trying to grow this one for at least three years! It's a more petite version of Lil Sweetheart it looks like. Is this one supposed to be a trailer?

A russian miniature of which i cannot remember her name!

as you can see i only have four standards. dont have room for more!

this is my entire collection of violets except for Lithuanique that i'm restarting AGAIN because i cant seem to keep her happy.

oh and yes I know that the one violet is too low! It got dumped and lost some soil, and it was struggling so bad I let it alone. It's happy now and growing well so I am going to repot it as soon as I can find a moment. Any other mothers of multiple little children, growing violets?? lol

Hi All, the weather in Michigan, I understand, is similar to ours in Southern Ontario, Canada. It is always said that if you do not like the weather, wait 15 minutes, and it will change.

Hi Rosie, Hi All, yesterday was a nice sunny day, about 60 F. Next week it will not be as warm - about 48 F. Even today it is much colder. No one has yet thought about turning off the furnace. Since the start of March, it has been on the cold side.

Welcome to Michigan, Susanna. You found another lovely windowsill for your AV collection. Looks good! And I would guess from the green grass outside that window, that you have settled somewhere at the bottom of the mitten. Up here in the fingertips, we still have some snow on the ground!

Hi Rosie and Susanna, as you know we live in the north. Our neighbor last week when snow flakes were floating in the air said that we are going to get Christmas for Easter.

We get reports from Buffalo, NY, saying that they had six feet of snow, while we hardly had an inch. Sometimes if you drive one hour north, there is lots of snow, but none in the big City. There are many micro-climates here.

Enjoy your violets on the windowsill. Mine grow on the windowsill also. Electric power is much too expensive.
