Bathroom update

My husband and I purchased our first home 7 months ago after house hunting for nearly two years. We knew this home required a lot of updates since the previous homeowner neglected it however we were willing to put in the time and money. The master bath is quite large and my husband jokes that the bathroom is the reason why we purchased the house. It could be so amazing if we had the budget to fix everything, but right now the only wow factor it has is due to its sheer size. When we purchased the house we decided to put in new cabinets, countertops and flooring because the cabinets were basically on the verge of falling apart and there was carpeting in the bathroom (yuck!). However the cabinet installer we went turned out to be an absolute nightmare and he did such a terrible job that in the end we just wanted him out of our house. Afterwards we noticed that he cracked a lot of the drawer boxes and damaged a lot of the cabinets during installation and basically we just wasted money, however we don't have it in our budget to fix it. In addition, we still have to fix the tub in the master because it doesn't work and eventually update the shower. We live in a community of 8 homes and after we purchased the house we were told that the majority of the homes experieced leakage from their master shower because when the homes were built 30 years ago the builders neglected to put in a shower pan. The home inspector noted in his report that there is no shower pan, but we have had a contractor inspect it and he said that the shower has been updated since it was built and he can't fathom why they wouldn't have installed a shower pan. However there is no way to really tell if there is one in there without ripping out the shower. So basically we're just hoping that we save enough money to re-do this shower before it starts leaking into our kitchen.
