I would not put anything there but your art needs to be hung lower, the middle should be at eyelevel The art is quite pale and really blends with the wall maybe a darker frame for it if that is possible.

There are quite a few things you could place there. A chair, a small table with a lamp, a large basket (as someone else suggested), If you already have pieces you are thinking of using, try some of them out for a period of time to see what pleases you the best.
