I have it. It is a smaller grower for me, I don't notice any longer bloom time.

I just got CF last year, along with quite a few other clems, and I already had quite a few more that have been in the ground longer. So, not much help long run, but I can say that it put out a lot of leaves earlier than almost everything else I have this spring after a very cold winter, and looks like it will be a strong and early bloomer.

I’ve grown Crystal Fountain for many years. I can’t say that it blooms any longer than my other type 2 clematis, BUT another I grow another type 2 clematis right by my front entrance. Franziska Marie is in such an obvious spot, and easy to reach, so I removed each bloom as it was spent last year. It bloomed off and one all spring and summer! It didn’t bloom as much when I wasn’t deadheading it, so I can only assume that it really made a difference. I haven’t done that with any of my other clematis, so I‘m not 100% sure if that’s what helped it to bloom so long, but it sure seemed like it.

Crystal Fountain has never received that kind of attention. It’s not as easy to get to. This is my Crystal Fountain today. Lisa

Interesting idea, Lisa. I could see doing the deadheading on a few of my clematis.
