Hi! My granddaughter is at A&M! I think a wise decision regarding jacks, outlets and flexibility is to have multiple options. I have been known to have a long cable cord running under the house with several holes in the hardwood floor where it could be pulled through (crawl space though.) That way I could rearrange furniture and still have TV in a good spot. Cord covers that run along baseboards help hide them as well, and there are all kinds of commercially available cord clutter controllers. At the most basic level, even twist ties can help get things organized and bundled a bit better. Outlets and jacks can always be painted to match wall colors, so they aren't quiet as obtrusive. Mounting them under cabinets and built-in furniture can be done as well. Charging stations for multiple devices in the kitchen or mud room are becoming a thing now.

Most people are accustomed to electrical outlets every three feet. If cable jacks and USB ports are going to be the thing, then they they could be made part of the standard outlet unit.
In many hotels there are USB ports in the base of the lamps or the light switches.
There should be flexibility in television placement. Some people want them over the fireplace and some would never have them there. Some want them on the wall over a dresser in the bedroom facing the bed and some want them at the foot of the bed to pop up out of a chest with a lift mechanism and others want the television in the sitting nook of the bedroom.
