Rug Source Help

Does anyone have a source for this rug? I'm looking to add a mix of colors to my living room and love the color combo in this rug. I tried contacting the designer, but haven't heard back.

Unfortunately the question has been asked of the designer and there have been no responses. Molly if you can't find this I am not sure anyone can ;-).

Looks like an "homage" to Paul Smith's Carnival.(The Rug Company) Maybe search for Paul Smith dupes?

Thanks Beverly! I tried to call the number on their website, but no one answers. :(. I sent another email via their web contact, maybe they will answer me this time. Not holding my breath. Pink I’ve looked high and low for it!! I’ll check the kilim site Beverly linked above.

hollybar it does! Thanks for the tip. :)

No wonder I like it, only $12,640 for an 8x10, yikes!

Molly it might be custom. I cant think of the name of the company but they have designs and you can choose which colors you want in the existing designs. They sell them at Capel......let me see if their website has them or if it is only an in store thing.

It looks like they only do bordered rugs online. If you have access to a Capel rug store they do custom rugs like these where you choose the design then you choose what colors you want in it from a color chart. In our store here they have about 5 or 6 different companies they do this with.

Yep Molly it is a spendy rug. Having seen a real Carnival up close and personal (friend's house, not mine) it is definitely a stunner.

hollybar is it soft to the touch or a stiffer wool? Also are the colors brighter or more muted? Just wondering if the West Austin home photo was retouched.

It is soft and plush, more plush than the rug pictured and the colors overlay differently. Shade-wise I think you have various options, including the pale one. The Rug Company is not in my ballpark, but the folks I know who have purchased from them get exactly the colours and modifications they want ;-)

Molly all professional photography is retouched........my friend does professional home photography and she said actually taking the shot is only 50% of the result.

Hmm, I wonder how much I could get for my current rug if I sold it. Is it better to go to a rug dealer or try and sell it by yourself? It’s in good condition.

Can anyone tell me if this is hand knotted?

Pink I do have access to a Capel rug dealer. Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty sure my rug is hand tied based on what I've read. Any thoughts on my question about selling it?

Oh gosh I’m of no help. If you haven’t read my thread on my antique rug ....LOL!

Pink I did read it. I take it you still have it.

Yes we do. I haven’t even tried to sell it because i have no idea what to list it for price wise or where to list it. No one can seem to give me an answer. We spoke to one rug guy who proved to be well quite frankly an idiot. When my mother in law was here for Christmas she saw we have it folded up in the loft and was all bent we aren’t using it. What no one seems to understand is that even if i loved it and it worked color wise etc is it’s too big to fit in any of my spaces! I really need this thing gone!

Pink & Molly, have you contacted any rug dealers for an appraisal? Your home owner insurer might be able to rec one. The best and most reputable want to see the rug(s) in person for a strong appraisal. Sending a rug off for appraisal is not as expensive as you might think...I think the shipping was about $150 "round trip" last time I did it.

Also, sometimes it is worthwhile to have a larger rug made smaller. Really depends on many factors.

hollybar I haven't, but I did have it cleaned last summer so maybe I could contact him. I did find my paperwork and it is hand knotted so maybe I'd get a decent price for it. Thanks for all your help!!!

It’s hand knotted? So I was wrong! It doesn’t look like a part of the rug to me but hard to tell. But what do I know! Haha

The rug you want is gorgeous Molly! The one that Hollybar posted is also beautifu!

I will be very interested in what you learn about you rug. Is it possible t take a photo from the front of the fringe?

Wmsimon here is the front view. The one hollybar posted is the same rug. :)

Hollybar i have had no luck with rug dealers Sadly. Basically i have a rug that’s antique and according to who I’ve talked to could be worth another’s from $3500 to $50k. That’s helpful isn’t it?

Molly sorry it appears I was wrong. I looked at that first photo you showed on Darcher’s thread and I thought the fringe was attached at least it looked like it to me but that is the rug welt. It looks exactly like my modern Oushak rug. It is a beautiful rug,

Pink peony, I know it was discussed on your rug thread but it really may be worth having it looked at even if it’s maybe an online appraisal through loads of photos.
