Hanging curtains (high or wide more important?)

So ideally I like to hang curtains higher and wide enough that you can see the whole window/frame when pulled back. My daughter's room has a coved ceiling which puts limitations on both but I could potentially do a little higher or little wider but not both, which would you choose?

I am laughing at your mad mockup skillz, which are way better than mine btw, and definitely agree that wide is the more important consideration here. In fact I would put the rod exactly where you have it!

Don't laugh at my mock-up skills but the two options I see...high or wide. Now that I see it, I am thinking wide?

I think you could do a bit of both. How about blinds. I think they would be easier to cover and uncover the windows for privacy and light control. You could get them in a pretty pattern.

Holly-I am laughing at my mock-up skills too. Whatever I can do to get a visual.

Houss-I like that idea too but the curtains and rod are already purchased and we have our handyman coming today to hang them. here is kind of in-between, although i couldn't get it quite right.

Since you already have them, I guess these curtains are not going to the floor. If you do wide, make sure they cover the width when closed.

Good luck. Please post a picture when done. It would be fun to see how it all turned out. Love those windows!

They do go to the floor, actually past the floor so I will have them hemmed once we decide on height. I'll post an update, the handyman is here currently working in a few other things first.

oh and good point about the width, I believe the window is 68in and the two panels are 80in together. I'll need to recheck as I measured months ago.

May I ask (and I'm not being snarky) why you posted the question if you were installing the curtains today without regard to any answers you may receive? You already purchased the curtains and the rods and have the installer coming soon.
