Yup, I told you that you would LOVE this tree! I have three and you are right, they bloom any time of the year at every moment. Love them, a true gem and yours is no exception)

How's your tree doing? Isn't flowering after losing many leaves bad? A sign of stress? That's what my limequat did this Winter when it was dying.... lost most of it's leaves and than flowered all over.... Technically it didn't die on me but, I threw it out because I didn't want to deal with a recovering sick plant when I'm already overwhelmed with other plants/things.

I am never worried about leaf loss unless I know the roots are not healthy.

For mines, I ignore it all winter. It's huge and I don't trim it back which I should. This tree is a tough one to kill and one in which I really never give any attention to, leaving it to drop many leaves in the winter on a very cold porch. Many even turn very yellow.

I know it will come back very strong from a nice rest and re grow all over the place again, sort of a renewal of itself.

As long as the roots are healthy, just like my local native trees that drop all their leaves, it comes back with a full vengence. The yellow leaves and bare branches will be replaced with a great new flush and lots of fully blooming flowers and fruit. I love this tree for that reason. NO matter how bad it looks by winters end, it looks it's best by summers end every year. I would never think of tossing it unless I am certain it is stressed from root rot and has no chance. Just because a tree looses it's leaves does not always mean it's stressed..

Dave, if I have buds that barley open, twigs that die back, along with branches, then it's a safe bet to say mines is only protecting itself until the warm days of summer come back in order to sustain itself and the big canopy it puts out with fruit.)

I've been strategically picking the lemons I want to stay and removing all the others as the flower starts to die and fruit starts to come out.

The last photo is my favorite, you can see all the blooms coming in dark purple. Hopefully I can get the flowers to be
purple once they open up. . . Even the leaves are dark purple, I love
it.

Wow they are so purple they almost look black. Great pics Dave! Mine should start flowering soon. I take it you'll be trying it sometime in June.. Please post pics of the fruit when you pick it and cut it.
