Nice looking stand Dutch. I don't think I see any misses either. For whatever reason Music has never done very well for me compared to other porcelains. German White does much better in my garden.

Jack, The porcelains tend to be big plants, don't they? Music is always the largest garlic (its my only porcelain) in my beds. I set them at 8" apart, too, which helps (at least I hope it does...) with most of the rest at 6".

Seems like I remember reading that most porcelains are actually identical genetically. They are different adaptation strains out of that. Research has found that genotypes can actually take different configurations, and we all know that our strains of garlic adapt to our gardens, pretty quickly in fact, despite propagating clonally.

zeedman, once upon a very long time ago, I worked a couple of acres in the country with a friend. There are times that I wish I had something like that these days, but at other times my 40x120 city lot is all that I can handle and more!

Damn but I never meant to get old, but then one day I just woke up and realized that it had happened anyway!

It's been a long cold spring here this year, but it looks like warmer days are ahead, finally.

The Music bed keeps on impressing me. New picture later today. I put down 55 cloves and all but three are up and the whole works is pretty uniform, currently running to about 8" above the mulch and 4 and 5 leaves, easily double in size every thing else except single plants in Maiskij and Japanese. Lots of missing plants in those two types though. I suspect they should have been planted earlier.

Music will end up being well over waist high after scapes are cut (and that is on myself standing 6'). I am tempted to let a couple mature their scapes out just to see how tall the full plant would be, but I don't need the bulbils. The cloves are still producing very vigorous plants.

Nice uniform stands in my feral, Siberian, and VietNamese Red, but much later to emerge than Music and soooo much smaller.

Next fall I plant a lot fewer cloves for sure.
