Mural for this bedroom? What paint?

Hi, so I’m thinking updating this (please see comments for bedroom images) bedroom and having a mural installed where the striped walls are right now. I love the idea of the mural that I saw in this inspiration image:

Its by anthropology

What do you think of the mural, I love how dramatic it is. Do you think it will look good in the bedroom?

Here are a few more options I liked:

Here is the bedroom currently. I was thinking of new light coloured stained side drawers, and yellow drapes with the mural. The animal prints would be moved. Maybe new lamps as well. I would also have to repaint since the current walls were never finished, what color walls would you do?

    thanks!

I like the first image with all white, but I don't like the second one at all or any of the others. I think the first room cut off from the bottom so the image is more airy. I like the white with it too, but your gray bed would go quite well. No pattern. Everything else in the room should be subdued. White and grey. Change out you light to daylight brightness, they appear very yellow now.

    Good luck!

I like the first image also, but I would measure the height of your bed frame and night stands so you can see how much of the mural will be hidden. Keep the room and bedding white and you can still use your pink/yellow rug with very light yellow, grey, or white drapes.

I love those murals and the idea of one in a bedroom but I also wonder if they're worth it when the bed will be hiding much of it. I'd rather have it on an unobscured wall facing me than behind me, really. Love your rug and the idea of keeping everything light and soft.

I like the first one a lot. I think it would look great

I love that first mural, not so much the others. I have a mural in my house professionally installed by a seasoned paper hanger. Some suggestions: the mural comes in a set size so make sure it MORE than covers your wall as you will lose some paper during the trimming process; your mural can be trimmed from top or bottom or both so determine with your paper hanger what exposure you more or less of (if you trim a lot off the bottom, you'll have more sky exposed, if you trim more from the top, you'll have less sky & more trees). Even though your bed may cover some of the mural, I think it'll still be a lovely muted background.

As far as the wall color, I think you should pick one of those whites or light grays that are in the mural. Take your time choosing this paint color. The pinkish rug will still look good plus add some color. Not sure about yellow drapes. If you're itchin' for yellow (which also shows up in your rug) how about a yellow throw or yellow in art work? Too much yellow & your room will look like a bumble bee. I like the drapes shown above, the white ones with that black Grecian design. Put together the mural, fresh paint, bedside tables, rug & new lamps & perhaps an inspiration for drapery will come to you.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful feedback! So everyone agrees on the anthropology mural, I love that one too. I like the ideas of a soft white paint color and maybe I should buy smaller side tables so the Mural shows more.

Any ideas on lamps? I’ve always liked these Ostrich feather lamps, not sure if they will go with the rest though.

Also that mural in the second picture was also a contender but I feel as if I would have gotten tired of it

I also like how out of the way these ones are

Your inspiration pictures are dreamily divine. That last sconce though? Pretty meh after the ostrich feathers. :)

Rather than dust catchers right next to your bed, or mounting something into the mural, just get a plain white silk shade for your current lamps. Keep it simple so the mural stands out.

I am drawn to the last one with matching bedspread. I love the ostrich feathers.

Inkkusmart that is beautiful. I love it!

Sunshine home I agree those inspiration photos are just dreamy. I personally don’t like the ostrich feather lamps though.

    Very nice, inkkusmart!

I love the ostrich feathers lamps but can't fathom the maintenance. Do they get very dusty?

Inkkusmart that looks very nice! I read some reviews that there’s places where the pattern did not match, was that true for you as well?

And I never thought about how dusty the feather lamps would get, plus apparently they are apparently priced at $1500+ lol! Another lamp it is then

Wow that is pricey!! I know I’m odd but I don’t really like seeing feathers as decor. Those lamps remind me a bit of feather dusters but maybe that’s why they’re so expensive because they could be used as double duty. :)

Haha, wmsimons85. Crazy price though. I'm sure someone with a bit of skills and imagination could DIY something funky along those lines. It's the base that might be difficult to replicate.

@ilikefriday thank you so much for the images! That really helps me visualize how it would look. I kind of really like this one as well now

But I feel like I’ll grow tired of the colors over time.

@wmsimons85 haha! That’s a very expensive feather duster. I think I’ll go with a simple natural looking shade with an interesting base. I did look at ways to DIY the lamp with feathers from amazon but it might be wasted effort, plus I hate things that gather dust.

    Not a Pro.

Sunshine home, you already know you will get tired of it, or you would not have brought it up. Go with your gut with the mural that will work for you long term.

It is somewhat funny how you are following my steps sunshine. I have considered both of these murals from anthropology and decided that I would get tired by colors in the second mural. I am in love with gray and not regretting a bit of not getting the other one. Installation went easy, without any problem. In fact I did it myself with little help from my husband.
