Entry Flooring Design Dilemma

We recently stained our first floor hardwood to a dark brown stain ( red oak floors). But we are left with the old stain on the stairs. What’s the easiest way to overcome this mismatch? I was told that it is expensive to remove those railings to stain the stairs.

I have stripped, sanded & stained stairs and didn't need need to remove railing. The balusters got all mucked up but I fixed that with a fresh coat of paint after the treads were done.

I had my stairs done and they did not remove the railings. No big deal. Just tedious scraping.

Just protect the balusters with tape. Prep work is the most important thing when painting/staining.

I agree with the other posters here - you should be able to strip and stain the stair treads without removing the balustrade. It is going to get a little trick though dealing with the carpet (am assuming it is tacked down). Would you consider removing the carpet alltogether?
