Can we see a picture of the whole wall including the area above it? Are you renting or do you own? How much do you want to spend?

My first thought is to cover the lower area with a fabric curtain. You can purchase velcro that has a sticky surface on the back, and just stick it to the table edge and the fabric. I'd use a flat piece of fabric, not ruffled. Google cabinet curtain for ideas.

The cookbooks are Hungarian so I'm guessing this is not a large North American kitchen and the OP would like to use the area for storage.

We rent the apartment therefore unfortunately I cannot make big changes and don’t want to spend a lot.

We do not have free spaces, especially my kitchen has no enough storage :((

I would love to leave it empty, I will try to reorganize this area.. Also, I will consider the curtain if I find a nice piece and the same with the cubbie idea..

Stacking drawers from the big box craft or storage store could slip in there.

For the fabric curtains, you could use a few tea towels. The advantage is that they are already hemmed, and you would reach between them to access what you need. And when you move, you just remove the stick-on Velcro and use them as tea towels.

Could something like this Kallax unit from Ikea sit on the table, beside the outside door, for extra storage? You can buy various inserts for the boxes e.g. for wine bottles, drawers, doors, baskets.
