In my part of the world that would be Sherardia arvensis, Field Madder. It's either that or something similar in the Rubiaceae which is local to your area.

Now to find out how to kill it. I had some Image Kills Nutsedge Weed Killer on hand and sprayed it but not sure if that will work.

It's not a nutsedge and is not listed with the few broadleaved lawn weeds that product does control so I wouldn't expect great results from it at all.

Yeah i sprayed it on most of the yard to kill annual bluegrass and some nutsedge. I didnt know what type of weed it was at the time so now i can research it. I’ve read a vinegar based spray would help.

If it is in the lawn, don't use vinegar. It is a nonspecific type of herbicide so can kill off anything it is sprayed on, including the lawn.

Good to know. It is a centipede lawn, or what's left of it. Reseeding this summer after a couple of years of drought, it took a toll so right now just trying to kill what I can without damaging too much of the centipede. Then I will bring in a load of dirt and seed. Thank you for the help!

Just ordered some Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide and some blue dye for the sprayer.

I want my centipede lawn back. It's covering a larger area than I am comfortable with.
