The problem is not helped by the squiggly border. You need to greatly deepen the border so whatever you plant doesn't run smack up against what appear to be vents in the crawl space. Then consider large, doming shrubs under each window (well out from the wall so they won't touch it at maturity), and filling in the area with smaller plants.

Without seeing the entire house, it's impossible to say what should be done on the other side of the steps to balance the entire house.

Before dealing with plants, I'd do something to correct the landingless Mayan steps. They look scary. Fixing them would necessitate pulling the walk farther from the house ... a perfect time to widen it.

I'm leaving the pyramidal evergreen, but it definitely has a limit on how far it can grow before becoming a negative. If mine, I would pull it out and put something less tall there. The bed needs to be filled.

Those steps are scary!! And require a handrail to be up to code.

I like Doug’s rails and white painted risers on the steps. Both he and Yardvaark smoothed out the curves for the bed and made it deeper. Then you will want to create a pleasing arrangement of plants followed by patience. For instance, the Little Lime Hydrangeas will be 5’ x 5’. How large will the drift roses, gardenias, etc get? So of course they aren’t displaying to their full potential because you just planted them.

Unlike arranging a room, plants take time to settle in and grow to full size, so you will always be underwhelmed by an initial planting unless you spend the money to buy really large shrubs or overplant to such a degree that it will need to be ripped out and replaced in 5 years. Annuals do a good job of filling in while you wait for plants to reach full size. In all honesty, I don’t think you did badly in choosing and arranging plants overall, but like Doug I would place the tallest plant off the house corner, as well as making the beds deeper and bringing everything farther out from the house so that they have room to grow.
