If it's not from a once blooming rose it should bloom fairly quickly. With once blooming roses it can take up to 3 years to bloom because it needs old wood to bloom on.

Finally, it open. It looks so.much like ZD even the colour and button eye. Is one of the parents is ZD ? Not bad !! Now, I can't wait for it to matures...lol

Im not sure what rose this seedling came from but I know the open pollinated seeds I had planted were either from a found perpetual/ bourbon similair to MIP or an older hybrid tea. I tried to keep my seed planting Organised , but I had a lot of seed so I put the left over seed in a raised bed and had forgot about it till I found this seedling. The foliage seems to be slightly glossy when compared with my old roses.

At least it grew and that is a nice surprise. I heard growing seeds takes lots of time , prep work and luck by the time you totally forget about it until you see a seedling.
You do have a green thumb !

I checked the foliage today and it isn’t as modern as I had thought initially.. Its new foliage seems to match my found rose Irene Ford and the older foliage seems to match as well. So I’m thinking it is more likely a hyrbid perpetual or bourbon. Its started to put on a lot of growth and form new Buds, so it’s looking like it might be a reliable repeater.

What a beautiful rose! Good fragrance is a must for a rose, in my opinion. Are the edges of this rose’s petals light colored ? It almost looks like the petals are outlined, a lovely effect.

Is the white edge on the petals more distinct now? Almost seems like it. Is white outline on rose petals a known trait? I really like the effect, but have never heard of it before.

It is more noticeable today but in person the outline is not as strong as it was on the earlier blooms. the rose I collected the seed from has no outline and the form is more cupped. https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.78592.0&tab=36

Thats very pretty! I had two rose seedlings come up by my bird bath that is in my veggie garden this spring. They are also near a big perennial salvia plant. The birds must have planted them. The only rose that had large hips over the winter was Tess. I'm afraid to separate them from the salvia until they are bigger.
