Hardy Palm 'Trachycarpus fortunei

We have had a large Palm (hardy) in our back yard and is has done so well. About 18' tall now. My question is. We purchased another and have planted it in our front yard. My friends have two planted in their yard and someone along else and they have a golden look to their leaves (uniform coloring) and I wondered what would cause this. I ask because I do not want our New one to go this color and want to be informed just in case. The yellow/gold one I speak of do not look unthrifty, other than just not a nice deep green like our large one.
