Using old stain? Plus old oil based paint.

I plan to stain repairs to an outdoor bench this weekend. I saved the original stain. It’s an oil based translucent one to be used on cedar. No topcoat planned.


Is there any problem with using an old stain? Does the formula break down?


Same question for the oil based paint I plan to use on the metal portions.
