Shutter Color - Please Help!

I have just re-sided the house in a linen (looks like white) color with a black 6 panel door and am in the process of having a portico built. Now it’s time to choose shutter color. I was thinking of using the same linen tone for the shutters (tone on tone) rather than black or another color. Here is a photo of my partially completed house and the inspiration house (photo with dog). I really want to stay away from black shutters because EVERYONE has white houses with black shutters. I have also had first green shutters and I am sick of that color too. I welcome any and all suggestions.

I thought I would give an update on what the house looks like one year later. I ended up not going with shutters or window boxes. I still need to get new square pots rather than these old urns but they will do for now. I hired Branching Out landscaping https://www.branchingoutlandscaping.com/
And I am very pleased with the results.

If you do shutters, please make sure you size and install them properly. Shutters are not just boards stuck on the house next to the windows.

Charming house, just my style! The portico is a nice addition.

Agree with Grover about getting the shutters right. I wonder too, if adding some window boxes would help to give some length to your windows. Some taller plants would be good for the empty wall space.

Thanks for the feedback and for the photoshopped images Groveraxle (If no one has told you this before - you are the superhero of Houzz discussions.) I forgot to mention one thing that someone brought up...I am thinking of tone on tone shutters with window boxes too, they are very unique style and not cheap because they are wrought iron and coming from CA to the Midwest and shipping isn’t included. Let me know your thoughts, it is a very different style for a cape cod.

I love tone on tone shutters & siding. So pretty with white or cream colored houses. You might want to consider using a different sheen, say a glossier sheen, than your siding. That's a subtle and beautiful look. Looks like your dormer windows don't have the space for shutters, but I think just having them on the lower windows would be just fine. That linen siding is beautiful -- nice choice!

I love that you painted the portico. Everthi g looks so much more cohesive now. Landscaping is beautiful. If Budget allowed and I would’ve changed one other thing, it would be to replace your first floor windows with taller ones, as tall as your buling code allows. It will not only bring in more light, but from car appeal standpoint it will make it look more balanced and sophisticated.
