What is the purpose of the lighting? Security? Guideposts?

I'm thinking I've too many also. Had thought of dropping to 3 each side. Hadn't considered a single file. But I could keep the 5 shown on the garden

Dark Sky outdoor lighting would illuminate the driveway only to the extent necessary, not illuminate the surrounding area, shine in any windows, or diminish the view of the sky.

Generally, any kind of area lights installed in a linear fashion are essentially spaced according to the diameters or spreads of illumination. For security lighting purposes, a constant 'flow' of light is usually maintained. If more subtle lighting is desired, then luminaries are spaced for pools of light. If specs like this aren't provided from the manufacturer, then Yardvaark is absolutely right that the best bet would be to test one of the posts to get an idea of the output!
