Only Dumortieri blooming right now

Always the one way out front in the race to bloom is Dumortieri, often a month before any others. Before I got Fernstone, Dumortieri had finished blooming before I even saw scapes. This year I have 5 others showing scapes and D has only been in bloom a week. I had thought it might be late spring for bloom, but maybe not. One of those 5 I counted was planted about a month ago, another was planted last fall, and I guess the scape was left over because it is, as Nancy called it, a cheater!

Dancing butterflies reseeds like crazy, I have these all over the yard. I have started cutting the seedpods off as soon as it stops blooming and somehow I still see seedlings. It usually is the first to bloom, I don't know why it is so much later this year

Crinkled Linens, the first time this has bloomed, I was surprised at how big the flower is

Cora Louise, fairly new Itoh. The flowers on the Itohs I have are monsters, or maybe it is the spring without a late frost, all the rain? Generally peonies have done really well this year

Coral Charm, beautiful color

Do Tell, not a big flower but I love the look of it. This plant does not seem to grow as fast as some

More, Edulis Superba, lots of blooms on this one

Rubra Plena-I may have the names of these 2 switched, I tend to do that. Both are older plants and heavy bloomers

Lights out, brilliant color that attracts attention

Miss America, you can't see all the blooms on this one. I used a tomato cage to hold it up. I had thought since this is not a full double it might not be so floppy, but the flowers are so big

Early Scout, I took this picture rather early in the day and they had not opened up well

I guess I should have shown something besides peonies, but I did not bring all my photos to the desktop computer. I tried 3 times to post last night on my laptop and kept losing them. My fault I think, I kept touching advertisements and would lose my screen just as I was getting ready to submit.

Looks like your season is off to a good start! I enjoy the peonies too, since mine are just emerging from the ground and it will be awhile for me. The Bartzella and Coral Charm from you are looking very vigorous. Bartzella didn't bloom last year, it's first, but I expect it will this year. All the rain we've all been getting has made our flowers quite happy!

Thanks, Celeste! I love my peonies, and they seem to be lasting longer than usual. Not that we have not had the heavy winds and rains that usually take them out because we have. Most peonies are doing really well this year, but 2 or 3 have had few, if any bloomsthis time. Not sure why that would be, when the plant right beside it is doing better than normal. And they bloom at the same time.

Those peonies are just gorgeous, Nancy! I do love them, and Coral Charm ois indeed a lovely color. Well, your daylilies have started so you know it is going to happen and soon. Early scout is suh a pretty rich color. Lights Out is indeed an eye catcher. such a pretty display.

Beautiful peonies! I love them all. I was outside covering mine earlier today as they are predicting snow here. Mine are still in bud phase.

More snow popmama! Hope your peonies come through! Thanks Kate, yes, my addiction is not limited totally to daylilies. Don't tell the iris and peonies, but I do love my daylilies best.
